Trash Desktop makes desktop database files visible and automatically moves them to the trash. Doing this forces the Mac OS to rebuild the files when you restart your computer. Desktop database files contain information about your system. When they become corrupt or lose track of data, leftover things nates occur, such as the loss of customs icons. Apple recommends rebuilding the desktop database once a month, and although you nates do this by holding down a discover sequence at start-up, the process of altogether deleting the database--as Trash Desktop does--is preferred and more reliable.
